I am the wife of a 6th generation farmer from Spanish Fork. Matt and I have been married for 11 years and have 2 kids.
My parents are Lynn and Jan Johnson.
Matt's parents are Gary and Sue Larson.
I have worked in healthcare for 17 years, with the last 11 years at Revere Health as part of the revenue cycle management.
I am running for city council to ensure that the residents' voices are not only heard but also represented in local decision-making processes.
I bring an authentic and tenacious leadership style with a background in finance, auditing, policy compliance, and insurance claims processes.
Our community has a rich farming heritage and values that have made our city a great place to live, work, and raise a family. However, there is a disconnect in balancing land use decisions and the growth between our urban and rural communities.
I bring a different perspective, and an extensive understanding of agriculture and its functions.
I will work towards solutions to ensure responsible land use decisions that benefit both urban and rural residents and address common challenges that will come with pressures of future growth.
I would love to earn your vote and would appreciate your support!
Who are the candidates running for Spanish Fork City Council and how will they represent you on critical community issues?
I have provided a strong voice to preserve the rural feel in Spanish Fork by working with the Planning and Zoning Department to create tools such as "Agriculture Protection Area's"(APA) to protect the right to farm and to preserve our open space.
Spanish Fork values the best of both worlds between the small town feel and urban benefits.
Growth is a constant and ongoing battle. As the population increases, so does the need to feed more people. And Spanish Fork is unique with having some of the most important and productive agricultural soils in our state.
Agriculture is an economic multiplier. It's the backbone of our society. It's rooted deep in our community and our heritage.
However, there is a disconnect in balancing land use decisions and the growth between our urban and rural communities, surrounding property rights, our natural resources, and our agricultural heritage.
I will help bridge this gap by fostering understanding, cooperation, and collaboration between the two. I bring an understanding and experience of agriculture to the council. I will raise an awareness about rural issues, work towards solutions that benefit both urban and rural residents, and address common challenges.
